Interesting Facts about Deia and the surrounding areas
- Deia is the resting place of British poet Robert Graves who, like many before and since, drew inspiration from the magnificent setting.
- King Juan Carlos of Spain has a retreat here and is a huge fan of the relaxed atmosphere and phenomenal views.
- Many celebrities have holidayed here including Brad Pitt, Claudia Schiffer, Boris Becker and Richard Branson.
- Valdemossa with its Carthusian monastery also inspired artists and writers and was the home of both Frederic Chopin and George Sand. Although the latter complained in her writings of the townspeople and the weather, their heritage is certainly welcomed now!
Nestled in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains on Mallorca's beautiful west coast, Fornalutx is a charming and unspoilt village of red roofs and green shutters. The rustic stone houses are built on steep terraces separated by narrow, cobbled streets and stepped pathways, leading up to orchards and farms.
If you enjoy a day trip or need to run errands in town, there are small local shops and lots of restaurants and bars, many with superb views across the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Soller is just a couple of kilometres away and the beach at Puerto Soller is also close by. The village has won several awards and is widely regarded the prettiest in Spain.
