Why Visit Menorca
There are endless reasons why you should visit Menorca. Since 1993, Menorca became a protected UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The unspoilt, glistening sands, turquoise waters and idyllic beach vibes entice holidaymakers to visit the island year after year, and we’re fortunate to have a collection of stylish Menorca villas within walking distance of the beaches. Menorca truly is a different world and one we highly recommend visiting.
The gentle landscapes are ideal for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling or horse riding – they’re a fantastic way to explore the island at your own pace. Stone monuments dating back thousands of years are scattered across the countryside, providing markers for a hiking holiday. If you prefer water-based activities, Menorca is famous for its range of water sports thanks to the beautiful beaches. Swimming, diving, snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing are just a few water-based activities that you can enjoy.
There are plenty of places to explore in Menorca, including Ciutadella and Mahón, both at opposite ends of the island. One of the most popular attractions of Ciutadella is the daily open-air market found in the Plaza del Mercat. On Fridays and Saturdays, the markets are held at the Plaza de Es Born. Please note, when visiting the markets, you must go in the morning as they open early and run until the heat becomes too much, which is usually around 2pm. Mahón is a Spanish town with little recognition to tourists, so an ideal visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle for a few hours. The boat trips available are, however, popular, so need to be booked, as Mahón is rich in history and is home to one of the best harbours in the northern hemisphere.
